The parent company of Loðnuvinnslan hf., Kaupfélag Fáskrúðsfirðinga has invested in Responsible foods. In the next few months setup of a food processing plant in Fáskrúðsfjörður will take place where Responsible Foods will produce high-quality snacks from seafood. The production in question is a revolutionary way to produce snacks from Icelandic seafood meeting the escalating demand for healthy snack food. Responsible Foods has already set up a production facility in the Ocean Cluster in Reykjavík where snacks from Icelandic materials are produced. With the new facility in Fáskrúðsfjörður the production capacity of the company will double.

Spakur Finance assisted with the financing which comes as a follow up to a previous Series A financing round announced last spring where strong investors like Mjólkursamsalan (MS) and Lýsi hf. invested in the company.

Kaupfélag Fáskrúðsfirðinga and Responsible Foods see a great promise in increasing the value of Icelandic seafood by offering international markets unique snack food created by the high-quality seafood of Loðnuvinnslan. The companies see great opportunities in setting up production in Fáskrúðsfjörður where there is access to first-class raw materials and expert knowledge of handling seafood. The facility in Fáskrúðsfjörður will create up to 10 diverse jobs in the next few years for the community.
